Culture & Alternatives
An abundance of sightseeing opportunities await you – at any time of the year. Boredom just won't arise – whatever your age there will be something right for you.
Nature & Culture: Subterranean Oberallgäu with Sturmann's cave and the gorges of Breitach and Starzlach, together with the precious artworks of the Loreto chapels in Rohrmoos, Bad Hindelang/Bad Oberdorf and many more on the way.
Sightseeing: Lake Bodensee – one of the biggest inland lakes in Europe - isn't far away. The lakeside towns of Lindau and Meersburg, as well as the island of Mainau, are not to be missed.
Watching a performance at the Bregenzer Seebühne outdoor theatre is an unforgettable experience.
The absolute highlights: The famous royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau and the Roman town of Kempten with its museums, archaeological park and great shopping possibilities all await you.
Children: Children's bliss can be found in the Allgäu Skyline Park, in the Ravensburger Spieleland (the theme park of the famous Ravensburger games manufacturers) and in Miniland. Legoland Günzburg is a worthwhile destination, too. Miniworld Oberstaufen, the Sonthofen Mini-Mobile model exhibition and the Burgberg ore-mine theme park are all good destinations for day trips.
And there is more to Oberstdorf: The ice sports centre with public performances and high level events; the Erdinger Arena, the ski-jumping slope etc. .....
Museums: The local history museums at Oberstdorf and Gerstruben, the ski museum in Fischen, the carriage museum in Hinterstein, the mountain-farmer museum in Immenstadt, and the farm-house museums at Wolfegg and Illerbeuren.
